An introduction to Storytelling with David Taubman.
This workshop is for anyone who is interested in finding out more about
storytelling and how to developing storytelling skills for use in a variety
of contexts, including education, business and personal development. We will
explore storytelling techniques, styles and traditions, and the use of
archetypes in storytelling to help construct positive life-scripts. This
workshop includes elements of composition and performance and is suitable
for teachers, youth workers, budding storytellers, drama workers and anyone
who likes a good story.
Dr. David Taubman is a storyteller of Jamaican heritage. David has a DPhil
in the educational use of story in culturally pluralist society and was a
secondary school teacher for twelve years before deciding to devote his
energies to storytelling to help more young people. He has up to delivered
workshops for the AGM of the Society of Storytelling and will be leading a
major TV event for National Storytelling Week in 2008. As well as working in
schools, David has led workshops at education conferences addressing identity,
diversity, underachievement and gang-culture. Visit his website
