This Friday (26th October) we welcome singer and multi-instrumentalist Jon Loomes to the Guildford Institute.

The release of the first album from this young performer in 2006 gained him lots of very favorable reviews.  Concentrating on traditional songs and tunes (plus a few tunes of his own devising) Jon's singing style owes something to Nic Jones, as does his guitar style.  He is also a highly accomplished fiddler and one of the Country's leading exponents of the Hurdy Gurdy - a rare chance to hear the latter and an even rarer chance to hear it played so well.

Jon's involvement in other musical projects, including Drohne ("bagpipes and hurdy gurdy for a modernist world"), English traditional dance group The Mad River Band and fiddle for the Ryburn Longsword and Black Swan Rapper sides inform his musical style and vouch for his passion for the music.

There are plenty of tickets still available so you will have no trouble getting in on the door.  Doors open 7.30pm, the evening starts 8.00pm.

Cheers

Lawrence

P.S.  A big thank you for all those who supported our venture into "World Music" with Jali Sherrifo Konteh.  A fabulous turn out for some fabulous music.
