WEDNESDAY 24TH OCTOBER – THE GUILDFORD INSTITUTE

On Wednesday 24th October we welcome the brilliant young Kora player and singer Jali Sherrifo Konteh from the Gambia to The Guildford Institute, Ward Street, Guildford GU1 4LG. The kora has been described as Africa's greatest musical instrument and is unique to the Manding people of West Africa. In recent years the instrument has become more widely known through the playing of some remarkable virtuosi, nearly all of whom come from the "jali" or "griot" families. Tickets are £9.00 and may be purchased on the door or in advance via www.themusicinstitute.org.uk or www.wegottickets.com
