JACKIE LEVEN

K-CITY Music Tuesdays

Tuesday 26 June 8pm

Gulbenkian Café Bar, Canterbury

K-City Music Tuesdays present Jackie Leven in the Gulbenkian Café Bar. Jackie Leven is a formidable singer, guitarist, songwriter and storyteller.

Jackie’s life story is worthy of a few biographies and is the stuff of good song-writing and performing. Everything from down–and-out to redemption and healing, Jackie has been there.  His experiences form an essential part of his solo performances and are reflected in his most acclaimed album, “The Mystery Of Love Is Greater Than The Mystery Of Death”.

His latest album, “Elegy For Johnny Cash” takes a unique and candid look at last journeys, and the people who make them.

“His material, in the rich vein of Celtic performers such as Van Morrison, John Martyn and Mike Scott, confronts issues head on.” Independent on Sunday.

With an emphasis on original bands and performers, Music Tuesdays aims to elevate Tuesdays beyond ‘the most dull day of the week’ and present an interesting mix of rising stars and seasoned veterans.
