Bringing Alive Sandwich Heritage present:
THE DUFAY COLLECTIVE in concert
on Friday 24th August 2007 at St Mary's Church, Sandwich, Kent
part of the Sandwich 1457 celebrations
'The Art of Minstrelsy'
The Dufay Collective have been acclaimed world-wide for their virtuosity and versatility. Drawing on unbroken traditions and using improvisatory techniques, The Dufay Collective aim to recreate the essence of medieval music and the exciting and virtuosic art of the medieval minstrel.
This programme will display the splendidly diverse nature of the minstrel's repertoire, from the intimacy of devotional and love songs to the exotic flamboyance of shawms, bagpipes, trumpets and percussion.
"Their playing was astonishingly inventive...here was a medieval 'jam' session as brilliantly sophisticated as anything you're likely to hear at Ronnie Scott's."
