The acclaimed Italian guitarist Antonio Forcione returns to Trinity Theatre to launch both his new UK tour and his DVD recorded at the venue in 2006. This concert features his international quartet - from Brazil, the master percussionist Adriano Adewale; from Nigeria - cellist Jenny Adejayan and from Australia on double bass and flutes Nathan Thomson. Artistic, intense, and formidably inventive, Antonio is a performer of genuine distinction. Ever unpredictable, his music has a rare delicacy, humour and not least, passion.

BBC Radio 2 Horizon Winner Julie Fowlis hails from the remote island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. The first Gaelic artist ever to be nominated for a coveted BBC Radio 2 Folk Award, and voted Gaelic Singer of the Year 2005 at the Scots Trad Music Awards, Julie recently released her critically acclaimed debut solo album, mar a tha mo chridhe/as my heart is. She is also recognised as a fine instrumentalist, playing bagpipes, whistles, oboe and cor anglais. Julie has performed with some of the finest musicians in the business and continues to enthusiastically bring Gaelic music and song to new audiences all over the world.

Reed engages the entire instrument, creating a rock/jazz rhythm section, melody line and chordal accompaniment simultaneously. performance brings together artists from the folk traditions of Wales, Scotland and England, highlighting the breadth and particular beauty of contemporary folk
from each country. The evening will feature three young female artists: Julie
Murphy, a vocalist from Wales (best known as the lead singer with folk band
Fernhill) Lisa Knapp, an instrumentalist and vocalist from England, (who
re-works folk songs with a splash of her very original writing) and Jenna Reid,
an instrumentalist specialising in the fiddle from Scotland (current holder of
the Best Newcomer Award, Scots Trad Awards 2005). For lovers of contemporary
folk this is an evening not to be missed!
