Two Dance Companies in One Week

Ballet Central & Verve

Gulbenkian Theatre Canterbury

Ballet Central

Verve

Here’s a treat for you - performances by some of the UK’s most talented aspiring dancers, twice in one week. Central School of Ballet’s touring company Ballet Central and Northern School of Contemporary Dance’s touring company Verve will be performing on 15th and 17th May respectively. Tickets are £10 (£8 Concessions). The dancers are all on the cusp of professional performing careers and when they graduate in July will take up contracts in some of the world’s leading dance companies.

The two companies’ dynamic and varied repertoires promise to be a treat for dance aficionados and newcomers alike. Ballet Central, sponsored by Scottish Power, will showcase classical favourites from Sleeping Beauty and Napoli alongside powerful contemporary dance by Christopher Bruce, while Verve’s programme of newly commissioned and existing dance ranges from the fast and furious work of Fin Walker to the gritty and industrial offered by Hofesh Shechter.

Both companies give you the opportunity to see work by Raphael Bonachela whose choreography effortlessly spans high art to pop culture. The mix of world-class choreography and talented young dancers results in two hugely entertaining and tremendously diverse programmes for you to enjoy.
