Artists / Performers needed for Festival of Colour - Poole

Artists Brief : Holi - Festival of Colour Celebrations

The Poole Indian Cultural Society requires  artists / performers for their

celebratory lunch event for Holi - the Festival of Colour.

Poole Indian Cultural Society

Poole, Dorset, has a growing number of Indian families residing in the

area. PICS was set up in 2005 with the aim of facilitating interaction

between members of the Indian community and with the wider local

community. We have so far organised dinner - dances for Diwali and Holi

which have been attended by up to 200 people.

Holi : Holi is a fun-filled festival of the Hindu calendar.  A bonfire

is lit in honour of the Princess Holika -others say for Prahlad-and then

adults and children alike celebrate by splashing each other with colour.

The Event :

This will be a family event from 11am-3pm on Sunday 5/5/07. Lunch will

be served to ticket holders, before which children and (willing) adults

will be invited to 'play' Holi. We would like some wandering

entertainment to occupy guests before and after lunch and will organise

a marquee to protect performers and guests in the event of rain. The

venue is the Cobham Leisure Centre, Poole.

Workshop Network is now registering for new artists.

Workshop Network is NOT registering artists from London or from the Visual Arts
genre at this moment.

We particularly require artists from the North East, North West, South East and
South West.

We are looking to represent artists from all genres, dance, drama, music, mixed
media and also any specialist or peripheral art forms.

All artists are subject to an Enhanced CRB check at the point of registration,
there is a registration fee which covers CRB check and administration costs.

Artists build a profile with their workshop summary and previous experience, there
is also space for images of you or your work. Think of it like a mini my space for
freelance creative arts tutors. We advertise our artists in various ways
nationwide.

We do NOT take a commission from your earnings as our artists get their whole
workshop fee. We do add an administrative charge to your workshop fees. We are
pro-active in finding assignments for our artists. We take care of all of the
booking details leaving you free to facilitate more workshops in your chosen field.

We have limited spaces available.
