This Sunday 17th December is our last event
of the year before we close for a couple of weeks over the holiday period. On
this Sunday we have an evening that will be a little different from the
usual:-
Walthamstow Folk Proudly Present a Special
evening:
Awakening Love
The Mystical poetry of Sufi mystics
Rumi and Hafez in Dari / Farsi and English with musical
accompaniment.
Rumi and Hafez were poets in 13th and 14th century Persia
(now Iran) and followers of the Islamic mystical tradition of Sufism.
The
power and wisdom of their work has endured for nearly 800 years and is as
relevant and important now as it ever has been. Perhaps even more so.
In
this special evening from Walthamstow Folk Karim Haidari and Evlynn Sharp
present entirely new translations of Rumi and Hafez's mystical poetry set to
music by Melanie Reinhart.
It promises to be an unforgettable evening
that might just change your life...
