FLOOK NEWS

Welcome to Flook News. Here are our tour dates for October and into the Autumn. We are heading to Canada this weekend, followed by Spain, and various gigs in UK. We're particularly looking forward to our appearance at Armagh's Piping Festival on Saturday November 18th, alongside Lunasa (www.lunasa.ie/) and Buille (www.vallelymusic.com/buille.htm). For those of you who don't know, Armagh is Brian's home town, and the Piping Club there is where he learnt to play. The annual Piping Festival is always a feast of music, and this year they are celebrating their 40th Anniversary, so it should be lots of fun. More details below, and you will find all our tour dates are regularly updated at: www.flook.co.uk/tourdates.html

And while you're there, have a glance at Ed's Summer Gigs Round Up on our Road Page at: www.flook.co.uk/road/road55.html
Apologies to any of you who turned up at Cornwall's Equinox Fayre a week or two ago. It was cancelled at 24 hours notice, due to very extreme weather conditions.
We'll be taking a few months off touring at the start of next year, as we are delighted to announce that Sarah is expecting a baby in February. There may still be the odd appearance in January and the lads plan to undertake the March tour of USA as planned but with a surprise guest, to be announced.
Meanwhile, Brian sent this report from his Mountain Marathon: "It was 'Misson Accomplished' by Brian and his team mate Diarmaid Moynihan in the Lowe Alpine Mourne Marathon. From the 141 teams that set out on Sat morning, 114 made it back to Tollymore forest Co.Down on Sunday afternoon. At the overnight camp the two guys were 30th fastest team and improved on that to finish 26th overall. It was a fantastic achievement on a personal level and an even greater one to have raised well over £2000 for the Macmillan childrens cancer nurses in the RVH Belfast. The webpage www.justgiving.com/brianflook will continue accepting donations until it expires on 16/11/2006. Both Brian and Diarmaid want to say the hugest THANK YOU to all of you who got involved, they had summer sunshine all weekend and were carried through the hardest moments on a wave of your love and support. A special word of thanks also goes out to Dustin Clarke of www.mountainhardware.com who sponsored the boys with high performance mountainhardware jackets and aerodynamic running tops so they not only did the business, they looked it too! So it's back to fluting and uillean piping.......for now!!"
There's one more gig to mention. Brian will be appearing in Parallelogram on 1 November 2006, as part of Folk in the Fall at London's South Bank Centre. According to their press release, it's "where Jazz and Folk collide, a unique collaboration of some of the finest musicians and composers on the UK Folk and Jazz scenes." The other musicians taking part are Aidan O'Rourke, Martin Green and Kris Drever (Lau), Pete Wareham (Acoustic Ladyland), John Blease (drums) and Oli Hayhurst (bass). Tickets are available from the Royal Festival Hall Box Office on 08703 800 400 or online at www.rfh.org.uk/folkinthefall
If you live in the north of Ireland, you may spot us on The Blackstaff Sessions on BBC2 NI, on Sunday October 29th.
And if you don't, search for Flook on www.youtube.com, where there are plenty of short videos to keep you amused.
