Subject: FolkintheBarn - Spring Update
Hi
How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good. Fab weather,
48 hours of Steve Knightley and Phil Beer... AND Marks & Spencers chocolatey bites, what more could any girl want? Of course I only do it for the music really ;o)
This is just a quick line (I know I always say that and then write an essay!) to say huge thanks to everyone who supported the weekends' Show of Hands extravaganza. There is discussion and feedback on the Show of Hands message board and more discussion and some photos on Longdogs, the internet fan club. The sad news is .... they won't be back next year as they have other (bigger) plans. The good news is ....they will be doing a third 'Big Gig' at the Royal Albert Hall on Easter Sunday. I will endeavour to let you know when tickets are available, but suggest you also keep an eye on their website, as they are sure to go very quickly. Further good news is that they may well come back and perform in Canterbury individually, again I'll keep you posted.
Don't worry though, its certainly not the end of Show of Hands.
If any of you are creative types and would like to do a review of the weekends proceedings 250 words max, the best one will be put on the folkinthebarn website and sent to the local press. If yours is chosen then you'll get a free ticket to a fitb gig of your choice.
Bernard I still owe you one, dont let me forget!
A few forthcoming events to mention .... this coming weekend is the Sweeps festival in Rochester. This is a really lovely weekend, the Dickensian streets full of music and dancing (and Sweeps!) There's usually an old fashioned fun fair and interesting stalls and food and allsorts to keep everyone entertained, I love it and the kids really enjoy it too. The concert line-up is great too with the Miranda Sykes Band, Martin Simpson, Lazarus and Fairport amongst others, see
www.medway.gov.uk/events
for details.
Later in May, Fri 26th, you can see Fairport Acoustic at the EM Forster Theatre, Tonbridge, a great venue, ring 01732 361908 for info.
Last but not least a very warm welcome to those of you who have recently joined this list, I promise your details will be kept safe and secure and if at any time you wish to be removed, just email me, I won't be offended (for long ;o) )
Don't forget to check out the new website
www.folkinthebarn.co.uk
for gig and booking info, tickets are available now for the rest of the concerts listed. CQ will also be back, details to follow, plus another exciting concert for December to be confirmed very soon.
Take care and keep spreading the word.
