THE BOTTLENECK BLUES CLUB GIG LIST

FRI 14TH APRIL The Bottleneck Blues Club, Zaffa, Maidstone ME13 1RH

JEREMIAH MARQUES & THE BLUE ACES plus Lesley Atchisson.

Replacing the original bill we now have the exceptional Jeremiah & his superb 50s Chicago band feat. West Weston (harp), Pete Nash (keys/guitar), Lewis Fielding (guitar), Geoff Randall (double bass) & Mike Thorne (drums)….for me this line-up is hard to beat…without doubt one of the UK’s premier true, blue, blues bands.

Lesley Atchisson comes highly recommended & will open the evening with some beautiful songs, joined by some surprise musicians. She hails from Oban…so a little Celtic perhaps?

TUES 25th APRIL The Bottleneck, The Roffen, Rochester ME1 1DY

THE SPIKEDRIVERS plus Caroline Aiken (Atlanta) + special guest Dave Sutherland.

Another blast of a night…the wonderful “heavy wood” of The Spikedrivers…unusual percussion from Maurice, driving bass from Constance (USA) & excellent slide & vocals from Ben (USA), This is almost a total USA night. www.spikedrivers.net

I’ve had great reports about Caroline & I just love her CD…lovely 12 string playing & great songs…this is yet another eclectic night of World Class music. www.carolineaiken.com

FRI 12th MAY The Bottleneck, Zaffa, Maidstone ME14 1RH

BIG DEZ (France) plus KEVIN BROWN

This is a double headline night….Big Dez is a five piece from Paris…they’ve just returned to Europe after recording in Austin, Texas & their CD is excellent. It swings & the vocals are spot on….they’ve been making quite a name for themselves on the UK festival circuit. Kevin Brown is no stranger to the club…delicate slide & thought provoking songs from a master of whom Mark Knopfler said “Blooody ek…e ain’t arf good!) or something like that! Kevin’s new CD “Tin Church” is sublime. www.thekevinbrown.com

TUES 30th MAY The Bottleneck, The Roffen, Rochester ME1 1DY

PAUL LAMB & THE KING SNAKES

Paul Lamb is often hailed as our finest harp player. West Weston holds him in high regard & he is a star of the Euro circuit. It’s been nearly two years since he played the club so this is a welcome return. Chad Strentz is now back in the line-up along with my old mate Rod Demick on double bass. A classic night of peerless music. www.paullamb.com

SAT 17th JUNE The Bottleneck, Zaffa, Maidstone ME14 1RH

GEOFF ACHISON & THE SOULDIGGERS

This is kinda Geoff’s “farewell tour” but I’m sure he’ll get back to the UK in the future. We have the “classic” Souldiggers” line-up tonight….Sam Kelly (drums), Dave Clarke (bass) & Paul Jobson (keys) with Geoff kicking off proceedings with his acoustic set. What can I say? If you’ve not heard this band before you’ve missed a life changing experience! www.geoffachison.com.au

TUES 27th JUNE The Bottleneck, The Roffen, Rochester ME1 1DY

THE MARTIN HARLEY BAND plus Tom Doughty

Martin’s new album has been played by me many times since it arrived….it has a truly “World” feel about, an outstanding mix of Blues/Indian/Celtic/Mountain…this band have real swing & will complement the beautiful lap-slide of Tom Doughty excellently ~ another CD I can’t get enough of! www.martinharley.com www.tomdoughty.com
