Subject: Show of Hands Emailout March 2006
Hello everyone,
Our new studio album, 'Witness', is now mixed, mastered and manufactured.
Produced by Simon Emmerson and Mass of Afro-Celt fame it has been an absolute joy to record. World renowned for their ability to blend ethnic, acoustic instruments and modern rhythms they have taken all the SOH trademark sounds and added textures and heartbeats to produce a rich, contemporary collection of narrative songs, most of which are located in and around the West Country.
Pre-production began in Exeter at the Riverside studios in December and the recording itself at the Presshouse studios in Colyton, East Devon in January. Many of the songs such as 'Roots' The Dive' 'All I'd ever lost' and 'Undertow' were previewed in concert last year and our regular sound engineer, Mick Dolan was also involved throughout the recording process.
We have also decided to take on the machine again and release two tracks, 'Witness' and 'If I Needed Someone' as downloadable singles on Monday, May 22nd. Technology has now made it possible for independent labels to compete with the major record companies for an indy chart placing and possible radio play. You can help us again by downloading a track on itunes on or around that date. And of course there's no doubt that a review of 'Witless' will appear in the fullness of time!
The 'Witness' promotional tour begins in April, breaks for the festival season, recommences in Germany in September, and then continues throughout the Autumn.
This all builds up to an important date for the diary. The third Show of Hands Royal Albert Hall concert will take place on Sunday 8th April 2007.
Tickets will not be on sale for another month or so - watch the website for more details.
See you out there somewhere and here's to the CD, the single, the show ?and now the slog!
Spread the word.
