Nick Harper (Thursday 16 February, Chequer Mead, East Grinstead)
 Nick Harper
Leave your grannies at home for this one a Nick Harper show is not for ther faint-hearted!  I last saw him in Brighton in November where he played straight through for well over 2 hours, including a 20 minute encore during which he wandered into the crowd, still playing, using a radio guitar mic. This is one of only two dates that Nick is doing before he plays a few festivals in the summer, then possibly a tour later in the year.  Not to be missed.

"There is no one in the history of the world that plays guitar quite like this man. The closest comparison I can arrive at is Richie Havens. Similar to Havens, Harper is all drone-tunings, with his acrobatics up and down the fret board creating a flabbergasting sound and an engrossing sight. The package is completed by a soaring voice reminiscent of another great songwriting dynasty, the Buckleys. Indeed, his winsome falsettos and incorporation of Grace into his live show should invite followers of Jeff to investigate Nick.."  Review from the Borderline December 2005

Tickets are £10 (less concessions) available from the Box Office on 01342 302000.  Support: Newton Faulkner.   More information on the Acoustic Sussex website or visit: http://www.harperspace.com/

Amy Wadge (Monday, 27 February, The Ravenswood, Sharpthorne, nr. East Grinstead)
 Amy Wadge
Amy Wadge (pronounced 'Woj') returns to the Acoustic Sussex programme by popular demand!  (Her last gig will be almost exactly a year ago, on 28 February 2005 - click here for a review).  She is a fine singer/songwriter and inspirational live performer, with a vocal range that can be as intimate as a whisper or as powerful as gritty gospel shout. Her honest, unsentimental, emotionally articulate songs have often been compared to Sheryl Crow.   Amy first came to national attention in Wales when she won Best Female Solo Artist at the Welsh Music Awards.  She has opened for the likes of Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, Damien Rice, Brian Kennedy and Eric Bibb. Amy is a rising star with a personality to match.  Performing as a duo, let Amy's amazing vocals and hushed guitar melodies take you away.

"...an irresistible, riveting performer'  Bob Harris

Jonathan Kelly
Jonathan Kelly live at the Ravenswood, Sharpthorne on 6th February 2006

The Jonathan Kelly gig was...  well, here are just some of the comments:

 "Extraordinary, absolutely extraordinary...."

"I thought the Jonathan Kelly gig was the best Acoustic Sussex event I've been to so far."

"FANTASTIC evening - and short of Nick Drake or Jeff or Tim Buckley dropping in, one of the most unexpected..."

"Last night Jonathan returned from the dead and I believe in miracles once more! Wonderful songs. Wonderful voice. Wonderful concert...."

"The moment when he stepped out on stage, picked up his guitar and began singing Madeleine only a few feet from where I sat, just as he had done 34 years ago, was a   true shivers-down-the-spine moment...."
